2005-11-16: Procurement Workshop
November 16, 2005 For immediate release
2010 Procurement workshop hosted by Chilliwack’s Spirit of BC committee
The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games offer $4 billion in business opportunities, $3 billion in major infrastructure projects, and 244,000 full-time jobs. But how can B.C. businesses, and more specifically Chilliwack area businesses, take advantage of this Olympic size opportunity? Chilliwack’s Spirit of BC committee will host a special 2010 Procurement Workshop, Tuesday, November 29, to help with such information.
"This session will help participants to get informed and educated about the procurement processes including: how to identify 2010 business opportunities, how to interpret and respond to bid opportunities, where bids are posted, where to go for information and support, and how to create successful bids" explains Terry Bodman, a co-chair of the local Spirit of BC committee.
"It will also provide details on key contacts, how to get information, and the significant time lines between now and 2010. If you are in business, and want to be a part of 2010, you’ll need to know how the Olympic bidding process works. This will be the place to start" says Bodman. The session will also provide details on superior procurement processes and procedures for post Olympics.
There will be a number of information displays at the workshop to introduce First Nations traditional and non-traditional businesses to non-aboriginal entrepreneurs.
